We encourage parent involvement at Trinity Lutheran School. We believe that parent involvement is an integral part of the education of the whole child. Our families are encouraged to volunteer, and are provided numerous opportunities to participate in school life -- in the library, in the classroom, going on field trips, sharing favorite books, or using your unique talents during different units of study.
Students benefit because volunteers provide…
Increased individual attention,
Increased opportunities to relate to adults, and
Increased opportunities to demonstrate respect for adults.
Parents, guardians, grandparents, aunts or uncles, or siblings over 18 years of age are all welcome to join in!
Adults benefit because volunteers gain…
Increased understanding of the education process,
Increased understanding of a child’s learning process,
Increased familiarity with the staff and community,
Increased opportunities to practice and build skills, and
Increased opportunities to share their expertise and talents.
Teachers benefit because volunteers provide…
Increased time to teach and plan,
Increased opportunities to enrich the curriculum, and
Increased time to positively influence student behavior.
Every summer we provide families with a lengthy list of ways to volunteer, but we also provide the opportunity for family members to “write-in” unique ways they can help. Items checked off on the Volunteer Opportunity Form are simply indications of a willingness to be approached to help in a specified way. We want to work with each family to help them complete the school-required hours of volunteering for events and causes that directly impact their children.
Volunteering at TLS is an experience that benefits volunteers, staff and students, but more importantly, builds our school community!
