Support TLS

Our school would not be the special place it is without the many wonderful parents, grandparents, alumni, Trinity Lutheran Church families, and other friends who so generously give their time, money, and talents to Trinity Lutheran School (formerly Baton Rouge Lutheran School). It is through the generosity and volunteer efforts of our supporters that we are able to provide students with the best education possible while simultaneously keeping our tuition as affordable as possible.

There are many ways for you to help the students of Trinity Lutheran School. The gift that only you can give – that of yourself and your time – is most precious to us. Adult volunteers, by example, emphasize every day to our students that they are part of a caring, sharing community. Volunteering done at home or on campus involves you in the “family” of TLS, the school you have chosen to provide your children’s education.

There are activities with no out-of-pocket cost to you that can benefit our school. Items you clip, save or recycle can be deposited in clearly marked white bins in school and office hallways.

  • You can clip and/or save Community Coffee product UPC’s, CC’s receipts, or designate CC’s gift cards; Campbell’s Labels for Education; Boxtops for Education labels; Tyson Project A+ labels.
  • You can recycle inkjet cartridges and cellular phones.
  • You can shop at Office Depot with a unique school code; Albertson’s, Super Saver, Sav-on Drugs, or Osco Drug Stores with a unique school code.
  • You can use the Good Search web search engine.
  • You can ask for donations of equipment, supplies or services that will benefit the school. Any goods or services we don’t pay for is money saved for other purposes.
  • Thrivent Financial members can designate their Thrivent Choice Dollars to go to the school.  (Choice Dollars are a significant financial impact for our school each year!)  Thrivent members can also host an Action Team as part of one of the fundraisers below to offset costs of the fundraiser.

The Trinity Lutheran Education Board usually sponsors just four fundraisers each year with the goal of keeping tuition as low as possible.  The proceeds  impact instruction by providing classroom materials and equipment; pay for most, if not all field trips; purchase paper goods for classroom parties and school events; provide “seed money” for teachers to prepare classrooms for the start of school; pay expenses related to the graduation reception and other events; purchase laminator film for teacher use; pay fees for our data and library management software and emergency contact service; pay for playground enhancements;  and, in addition, help pay operating expenses.

Selected fundraisers have included a golf tournament, annual appeal, a spring Walk-a-Thon, a spring auction, a basketball tournament, or a candy sale in the past.

The support of the many friends of the school help to make the fundraisers we select successful. Opportunities are open to volunteers to solicit or provide special donations, serve on committees to organize these events or on other school board committees that promote the successful operation of the school. Contact the school office or speak with a school board member to offer your assistance.

While we wish we never had to ask families to be involved in fundraisers, in order to keep tuition costs down we need to raise additional funds. Family participation in fundraising efforts has always been strongly encouraged.

Strong, positive parental support and involvement has long set us apart from other schools in the area. You only need to look around at buildings, classrooms, books, and equipment to see how God has blessed the ministry of Christian education at our school. But, an equally real blessing has come from the people who are involved with, and supportive of, our students.
